Curcumin is fat-soluble.

This means it dissolves and absorbs better when consumed alongside fat. Warm haldi doodh made with full-fat milk, or turmeric added to a tadka with ghee, is not just tradition. It is a smarter way to consume it.

Harvard Health Publishing confirms this: incorporating turmeric into a meal with fats such as oils or ghee can increase the absorption of curcumin through the gastrointestinal tract.

So your nani's haldi doodh was ahead of its time.

But even with fat and pepper, the amount of curcumin you get from food is still quite low compared to what clinical studies use to measure meaningful health effects.

What "Standardised Extract" Means and Why It Matters

When you see the term "standardised extract" on a supplement label, it tells you something specific.

It means the product has been processed to contain a guaranteed percentage of curcuminoids, usually 95%. This is far higher than the 2 to 5% naturally present in turmeric powder.
